Challenges of the Augmented Reality Gaming Market

Hardware Limitations and User Experience Constraints

The major difficulty in the augmented reality gaming market is from the hardware itself, as it is a limitation. Although a major number of people have access to smartphones, the hardware of these smartphones may not be able to support the various augmented reality services, which will create an unpleasant experience for the user itself. The battery consumption, heat produced while using the devices, and the limitations in terms of the processor may create difficulties in the overall usage period of the game played by the user itself. Apart from this, the AR wearables designed have several limitations in terms of user-friendliness, which will create an unpleasant experience for the user themselves, including fatigue while playing the augmented reality game itself.

Privacy, Safety, and Data Security Concerns

Other large challenges include privacy and safety. Most of these games are location-based, require access to the camera, and sometimes even need to map the environment. This is all sensitive information that could be used to breach the privacy of the users. There is also the issue of safety that could arise from distraction in public places. The use of such software in terms of data protection and child protection will make the process of developing and using such software even more complicated. The developers will have to invest in data protection and designing the games in a way that will alleviate these concerns.
